Job Description
Shift: M, W, Th 2:00pm-7:00pm; every other weekend 7:00am-3:00pm.
Hours per week: 22.5
Job Summary:
The Health Information associate is responsible for performing various clerical tasks within the Health Information Department, including, but not limited to: accounting for medical records, assembling, prepping , scanning and a QA check for inpatient and outpatient records & incorporating late documents as described in Health Information policies and procedures; filing, retrieval, purging, destruction, as described in Health Information policies; completing the Electronic Birth Certificate following NYS DOH guidelines; performing release of information as outlined in Health Information policies, HIPAA & NYS guidelines. The Health Information Associate is responsible for assisting in meeting regulatory requirements as it relates to medical records, release of information, & vital statistics; participating in ongoing performance improvement activities; and providing outstanding service excellence.
Education /Licensure/Certification Requirements:
College level courses including medical terminology required. Associates Degree in a Health related field preferred. Previous Office Experience in a Health Related Facility required. Must successfully pass a medical terminology test. 6 months experience in a Health Related Facility preferred.
