Job Summary:
Under the general oversight of the Director of Radiology, applies professional knowledge and skill to provide accountable oversight and coordination of services, procedures and projects in the area of Echocardiography Service. Core job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: utilizing AIDET to communicate with patients during all encounters, analysis of patient medical record to elicit patient history to obtain the information necessary for performance of a thorough diagnostic exam, quality improvement activity, facilitating and reporting quality assurance activities to Director of Radiology, evaluation of echocardiography studies for acceptable technical quality, managing quality initiatives to obtain and maintain ICAL certification, supervision, and establishment of relationships within and across departments to optimize patient care process.
Technical/Behavioral Competencies:
Executes technically sound echocardiography studies. Lifting and pushing 50 pounds. Bending required during patient care. Ability to move patients independently and with assistance or with use of the available safe lifting/movement devices. Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
Education / Licensure/Certification Requirements:
BLS required. Certification in Adult Echocardiography, Credentialed by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required. Knowledge and ability to meet ICAEL standards and achieve service certification required. 30 hours of echocardiography related continuing education must be obtained every 3 years.
Experience:
2 years of providing echocardiography services in a hospital environment preferred.
